I can only try and describe the fun I had while photographing the Hussey Family! Jennifer and Jeff are past wedding clients of mine, so this was an absolute treat to photograph their growing family. How adorable is their son Dean… even when he was crying! I was at a familiar location for this session; we shot this right next to my studio at the Bernardo Winery.

Kelly and Phillip came to me through Phillip’s father. He is a photographer for the San Diego Union Tribune and had invited me to be on his talk show awhile back. I had a great time being on his show, but had even more fun working with the rest of the family at this beautiful wedding. Kelly and Phillip held their ceremony at the Community Bible Church and their reception at the Sheraton La Jolla. The floral accents for their wedding were a deep red, which looked spectacular against the red flowers in the landscape at the Sheraton. It certainly gave some of their images an extra visual “pop”!

Tim and Caroline’s engagement shoot took me back to Balboa Park. These two are so photogenic and a lot of fun to work with. I have a feeling their September wedding at the Darlington House is going to be breathtaking!

So much of 2009 has been a year of familiar faces. Erica and Mark were no exception. Last summer I had the pleasure of photographing Erica’s sister’s wedding and it was a thrill to see another member of the family get married! Another of my past wedding clients were in attendance as well, with their adorable daughter serving as the flower girl. (It was great seeing you again, John and Lindsey!)
Jessica Ford-Beltran from Moira Events Design & Coordination helped Erica and Mark pull together amazing details for their wedding. Their ceremony was held on the grounds of the Hyatt Mission Bay and the ribbons and delicate flowers looked lovely in the ocean breezes. A fun element Erica and Mark brought into their reception (also held at the Hyatt) was cupcakes! They looked delicious and were quickly gobbled up! Check them out at Sweet Cheeks Baking Company.

Lance and Nicole’s wedding was an extra special experience for me. Lance and I grew up together in Poway. Thanks to the Facebook phenomenon we recently reconnected after nearly 20 years! It has been great catching up with him, meeting his beautiful bride and reminiscing with his family. Where do the years go?
Lance and Nicole’s wedding was fantastic! They held their ceremony and reception at a private residence in San Diego, which boasted spectacular views. It was the perfect setting for their small, intimate occasion and it couldn’t have been a nicer evening.
Although they live far away - here’s to hoping they are back in San Diego soon!

For Alicia and Reza’s engagement shoot I had the chance to travel up the coast to the historic San Juan Capistrano train station. Wow, were there a lot of great spots to take pictures! Alicia and Reza’s wedding coordinator is a past bridal client of mine so I feel an extra connection to the couple already. Look for more of their images after their wedding this coming June.

A year and a half ago I photographed the wedding of Christine, Karen’s sister. When I was asked to work with the family again and photograph Karen and Jeremy’s wedding I jumped at the chance! Much of my work comes from referrals and it is a compliment I appreciate immensely. Every wedding I shoot is a unique experience, but there is an added element when I have a history with the clients and their family. It was only a few months ago that I shot Karen and Jeremy’s engagement photos. We had a lot of fun together that day and it seemed their ease with me crossed over to their wedding. It was a great day and we got some amazing shots!
For those of you wondering about their locations - they held their ceremony at St. David’s Episcopal Church and their reception at the Admiral Kidd Club on the Naval Base in Point Loma.

Recently I met up with Matt and Jennifer for a fun engagement shoot. They are really ahead of the game with their wedding still almost a year away! We spent some time getting great images at one of my favorite San Diego spots - Balboa Park. They have chosen the Rancho Bernardo Inn for their wedding ceremony and reception. The RB Inn has such a luxurious feel nestled in between the golf courses. It’s right around the corner from my office and is a great venue. I look forward to seeing Matt and Jennifer again in January!

Jennifer and Kevin chose a wedding site with one of my favorite set of doors, the Grace Lutheran Church of San Diego. This church has the most fantastic pair of doors and a soaring exterior that I love to take pictures of. They also selected the US Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego for their reception. A few years ago the US Grant remodeled and it looks terrific. The historic ambience of this 1900’s hotel is such a nice backdrop for a wedding; just take a peak at the beautiful arched ceiling in the image below! A few more noteworthy items, Jennifer and Kevin selected the Ultratones for their dance band and Modern Bouquet did the flowers. It is amazing what these two elements do to set the tone of the event. The flowers were really beautiful and the guests seemed to have a great time on the dance floor!

Jennifer and Tom selected Paradise Point Resort & Spa for their wedding ceremony and reception. Paradise Point is located on its own island in Mission Bay and although it is just across town, whenever I work there I feel as though I have traveled to some far off tropical oasis. This wedding site is consistent in it’s beauty and I think it always makes for a nice setting. Even for this early Spring wedding the gardens were lush and the colors around the property as vibrant as ever.
